A brief history:
The Ecofarm was established by the Jefferson County Department of Health and Birmingham Southern as an Ecoscape in 2009. The goal for the EcoFarm was to transform a field of invasive plants to an edible landscape classroom for nearby schools and surrounding communities. Due to financial resources, the project ended and in 2012, B.E.E. (Birmingham Eastside EcoGardens) began to maintain the beautiful garden space. Working with only a few volunteers, we began to clear, maintain and develop the established garden, and surrounding Greenway Trail overlooking Village Creek.
