B.E.E. is located behind the Eastern Health Clinic and is not visible from the clinic. Park in the far right parking lot. There is a gravel trail leading into the garden.
A brief history:
The Ecofarm was established by the Jefferson County Department of Health and Birmingham Southern as an Ecoscape in 2009. The goal for the EcoFarm was to transform a field of invasive plants to an edible landscape classroom for nearby schools and surrounding communities. Due to financial resources, the project ended and in 2012, B.E.E. (Birmingham Eastside EcoGardens) began to maintain the beautiful garden space. Working with only a few volunteers, we began to clear and maintain the established garden, and surrounding Greenway Trail overlooking Village Creek.
